Minister of Culture Renews Confidence in Artist Mohamed Reyad to Head the National Theatre Festival

Dr. Nevine El Kilaani, the Minister of Culture, has issued a decision to renew confidence in artist Mohamed Reyad to lead the National Theatre Festival in its seventeenth edition for the year 2024.

The artist expressed his happiness at the renewed trust in him to assume the responsibility of heading the National Theatre Festival for a second term, affirming that the upcoming edition of the festival, named after the Arab theatre icon "Samia Ayoub," is a tribute to the pioneering journey of Egyptian theatre leaders and actresses. He stated, "We will exert all efforts to make this edition exceptional, worthy of the status and heritage of Egyptian theatre." He pointed out that work began as soon as the previous edition ended to implement the recommendations of the judging committees, promote the festival, and expand participation.

It is worth mentioning that Mohamed Reyad assumed the presidency of the Egyptian National Theatre Festival in its sixteenth edition for the year 2023. Born in 1970, Riad graduated from the Faculty of Science, Cairo University, then joined the High Institute of Dramatic Arts, where he obtained his bachelor's degree. He was selected as a member of the Supreme Committee of the National Theatre Festival in its 15th edition. Mohamed Reyad has presented over 150 artistic works spanning drama, theatre, and cinema, including "The Lost Sultan," "Qalaa Al-Hagar," "The Masquerade," "48 Hours in Israel," "Day of Dignity," "Wedding Party," "The Empress," "I Will Not Live in My Father's Galabeya," "Stray Light," "Arabesque," "Family Bondage," "Princess in Abdeen," "The Other Half of Spring," and many other works that represent milestones in the history of Egyptian art.
